The Conclusion...

We have come to the end of our hip hop fashion evolution journey..I hope it's been great. It is clear that hip hop and its fashion has changed drastically - think of RUN DMC videos and clothing and compare that to any hip hop video now. Back then hip hop was about expressing your struggle and feelings through different forms of hip hop. Now it is about money and girls. Women's fashion used to be closely aligned to male's fashion - wearing baggy clothes - because they were in a male-dominated industry with high inequality. Now they are seen as objects, as part of the rappers' assets i.e. cars, bling, houses and bitches (they are possessions). Women started wearing tight clothes and short skirts because they industry had a "sex appeal" trend - they did this to stay relevant, but now they are paying for it by being objectified. One of my favourite tracks, "Bandz A Make Her Dance", perfectly portrays what's currently happening in the hip hop industry, and this is the general theme in other music videos. I can't wait so see what's going to happen next in hip hop fashion. Toodles*
